An online cellular-automaton-based "emergetarium". This applet is the
JDK 1.1 successor to WebsideCA. See the
feature list for more info.
Cellsprings/DT
The Java application or "desktop" edition of
Cellsprings. Just like the applet, except that it substitutes local
for remote file access and supports the installation of user-supplied rulespace
classes. Free for the downloading.
Cellsprings Data
Rules, seeds, and movies saved by visitors using Cellsprings/Web.
Although activity has so far been light,
a few items of interest have accumulated, perhaps most notably the "EKG" CA.
There are also a couple of nice graphics, but visitors haven't really begun
to mine the potential.
Gif89Encoder
A free Java class library for encoding GIFs. Source included. Supports
the main extended features of GIF89a, including animation and embedded textual
comments.
WebsideCA
Although this JDK 1.0 applet was well received on the Web when it appeared in
1998, it is now obsolete. It remains here largely due to its (somewhat
dubious) historical interest. For exploring CAs, visitors are best advised
to run Cellsprings. There are JDK1.1-compatible browsers available
for all major platforms.
